Asha Jyothi believes that equipping single mothers, vulnerable girls and women from low-income communities with “employable skills” that lead to employment and eventual self-sustenance, is the best way to tackle the false promises of human traffickers.
Asha Employable Skill Training Centre
The Asha Employable skills training centre is one of the many projects that was begun with the goal of equipping women at-risk with skills that could lead them to employment and eventual economic self-sustenance. Over the last 12 years, women from various at-risk backgrounds including - single mothers, widows, migrant workers, women from poor low-income families, girls rescued from trafficking, women affected by HIV/AIDS, – have undergone a wide range of skill development courses. These include courses in Computer Skills, Office Management, Desk top publishing, Beautician, Spoken English, Tailoring and Paramedics. Since 2008, over 7000 women have gone through courses at the Asha EST. Our courses have also been recognized by the Government of Telangana Intermediate Board giving our graduating students an edge when they look for jobs. Close to 89% of students going through our courses have found jobs after graduation. Our students have also performed exceedingly well at their Government exams with close to 90% of them receiving a distinction upon graduation.

Asha Men’s employable Skill Training Centre
The Asha Men’s EST centre was set up with the intention of providing good quality skill training for school dropout boys and young men. Focused on practical training couple with actual on-job training, the boys spend upto 70% of class times working on actual projects under the supervision of their tutors. The three courses – Electrical and Electronics, Welding and plumbing have had huge success so far with a majority of the men receiving jobs immediately after graduation.
